NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, TX - The Brahmas struggled mightly on opportunites with the man advantage, falling to the Corpus Christi IceRays on Friday night by a score of 5-2.
Alex Berardinelli opened the scoring during four-on-four play to give the Brahmas first blood with 5:52 remaining in the first period. Before the period rounded out though, Steve Bryant of the IceRays was given a game misconduct for head contact after slamming Carson Kelley. The Brahmas would not capitalize on the major, a reoccurring them during the night.
In the second Regen Cavanagh evened the contest back up at one. It wouldn't be his only action of the frame though, as he too, was given a game misconduct after leveling Sean Giles.
The third and final period was where the scoring all came to fruition, unfortunately favoring the 'Rays. Brad Power and Cody Lichtenvoort scored just 61 seconds apart to give them the lead by two before the Brahmas answered back. Berardinelli scored yet another shortie with under five minutes remaining getting the NYTEX crowd back into the action. However, just 34 seconds later the wind was taken out of the sails when Carter Johnson struck on the power play when left alone in the slot.
Johnson would record an empty netter to give the score its final resting place, 5-2.
In net, Conor O'Brien continues to falter, suffering his fourth loss in last five starts.
