Weekend Preview: Home and Home With Green Bay Kicks Off Friday
The Capitols kick off a home-and-home series with Green Bay on Friday night. The matchups against the Gamblers will be the seventh and eighth against Green Bay this season. Madison is 1-5-0-0 against the team's lone in-state opponent this season. All time, the Capitols have a 31-33-2-2 record against Green Bay, but have captured four of seven Wisconsin Cheese Cups presented by Odyssey since Madison's return to the USHL in 2014.
The Caps are expecting their fourth sell out of the season on Friday night, which will be the first matchup between the two teams since the turn of the new year. Hopefully, for Madison, this allows a healthy reset in the series with the Gamblers holding a five-game win streak over the Capitols. The lone Capitols win against Green Bay came in October at Bob Suter's Capitol Ice Arena in an overtime thriller where the Caps came back from down 3-0 to win 4-3.
If he dresses in tomorrow night's contest, the game will mark the 100th USHL game in Matt McGroarty's career. He will become the second player to hit that mark this season for Madison joining his co-captain Nick Wallace.
Andrew Kuzma and Jack Musa leads the Capitols in points recorded against Green Bay this season with five a piece. Kuzma has done so playing in one less game than Musa.
Puck drop is scheduled for 7:05 pm on Friday night in Madison and 7:05 pm on Saturday night in Green Bay. Follow along with the action on FloHockey and the Capitols social media.
