The Forecast: Storm Set to Battle Force in Frosty Cup

FRISCO, TX. - The Tri-City Storm is set to battle the Fargo Force tonight at the Comerica Center in Frisco, TX in the 2023 USHL Frosty Cup. The Storm and the Force will play a two-game series in the event. The two Western Conference opponents will face off again tomorrow night in the final game of the series. Puck drop for each game of the 2023 USHL Frosty Cup between the Storm and the Force is scheduled for 7:05pm CT.

The USHL Frosty Cup is hosted in partnership with the Dallas Stars (NHL). The event is held at the Comerica Center, the official training facility of the Stars. The USHL Frosty Cup will also feature a youth hockey showcase with teams from 14U-18U participating. Tri-City is defending champions of the event after posting a two-game sweep of the Lincoln Stars in the 2022 edition of the USHL Frosty Cup. Each game played between the Storm and the Force is part of the 2022-2023 regular season. Tri-City (16-13-0-3) enters tonight's opening game of the USHL Frosty Cup on a three-game point streak. The Storm posted a two-game sweep over the Omaha Lancers last weekend. Daimon Gardner (2), Graham Gamache (2), August Falloon, Philippe Blais-Savoie, Haden Kruse, Kieran Cebrian, and Tanner Adams scored Tri-City's goals during last weekend's games. Goaltender Patriks Bçrziòð collected back-to-back wins in net for the Storm in his debut weekend with the team. The Storm has won one game against the Force in the first three games of this year's eight-game series. Tri-City's lone victory against Fargo came in a 5-4 road win at Scheels Arena on November 3rd. Kieran Cebrian recorded his first career hat trick in the victory. The Storm is 16-9-1-0 in head-to-head matchups against the Force in the past five seasons. Tri-City posted a 6-1-1-0 record against Fargo last season.

Fargo (22-8-0-3) enters tonight's game against Tri-City as the 1st place team in the USHL's league standings. The Force is 7-3-0-0 over the last ten games. Fargo has allowed the least number of goals scored of any team in the USHL this year (78). The Force split a home series against the Sioux Falls Stampede last weekend at Scheels Arena. Cole Knuble, JP Turner, Kyle Smolen, and Charlie Russell each scored a goal for the Force in last weekend's home series against the Stampede. Goaltender Matej Marinov was in net for Fargo's 3-1 win over the Stampede on Friday, and Anton Castro was in goal for the Force in the team's 3-1 loss to Sioux Falls on Saturday. Fargo has posted two shutout wins over Tri-City to this point in the season series. The Force have won nine of the last twelve games overall this season.
