BRYAN, Texas - After a heart stopping walkoff win on Friday night, the Brazos Valley Bombers looked to continue their winning streak as they took on the Acadiana Cane Cutters at Edible Field.

Bombers' pitching dominated the opposition as starting pitcher Carson Atwood pitched five complete innings, striking out five batters and only allowing two hits. Atwood started off the first three innings strong, retiring the first 10 batters faced.

"At the beginning of the game the fastball was working well for me but I lost it a little in the third inning and started going more offspeed," Atwood said.

Offensively, Bombers hitting offered strong support for the pitching staff as they scored early. Second Baseman Casey Sunseri delivered an RBI double in the third inning, giving the Bombers their first run of the game.

In his Bomber debut, center fielder Dylan Rock wasted no time endearing himself to fellow Bombers fans as he smoked a double to the centerfield wall, scoring Zane Schmidt.

In totality, Bombers pitching only gave up three total hits and struck out 11 batters. Derek Saenz, Jack Brinley, and Zach Griggs each came on to pitch an inning in relief and each contributed two strikeouts.

The Bombers bullpen has been a strong point of the team all year, and head coach James Dillard wants this trend to continue.

"The bullpen has been a huge part of this team's success. Everyone has stepped up and contributed in their own way. The reason we've won a majority of our games is because our bullpen has kept us in it," Dillard said.

In the ninth inning, Closer John Cheatwood came in to close out Acadiana, as he struck out the final batter, sending Edible Field into a frenzy. The Bombers walked away with a 3-1 win, sweeping Acadiana and winning four of their last five games.

"Winning is a great thing. Anytime you win the team is going to continue to gel and grow together. The guys are selfless and are playing for each other. Anytime you have that you're destined to have success," Dillard Said.

Edible Field was nothing short of a party atmosphere on Saturday night as birthday parties, engagements, and company outings filled the seats as fans enjoyed a Bombers win with postgame fireworks.

The Bombers will return to Edible Field on Tuesday, June 29 as they will take on the San Antonio Flying Chanclas, looking to keep pace in the TCL playoff race.
