Huntsville Havoc News Release
The Huntsville Havoc split a two-game series with the Columbus Cottonmouths this past weekend, losing 4-2 on Saturday night in Huntsville and rebounding with a 6-2 win Sunday afternoon in Columbus.
Saturday, November 4 - Columbus 4, Huntsville 2
HUNTSVILLE, AL - The Huntsville Havoc were 0-10 on the power play and fell 4-2 to the Columbus Cottonmouths in front of 6,509 fans Saturday night.
Lorne Masita, Orrin Hergott, Ryan Rutz and Craig Stahl all scored for the Cottonmouths, while James Patterson and Dan Buccella netted goals for Huntsville.
Columbus was 3-8 on the powerplay and killed off a five on three late in the third period.
Matt Carmichael stopped 31 shots in the loss while Chad Rycroft stopped 33 to get the win.
Sunday, November 5 - Huntsville 6, Columbus 2
COLUMBUS, GA - Bill Monkman tied a team record by scoring four goals as the Huntsville Havoc defeated the Columbus Cottonmouths 6-2 on the road Sunday afternoon.
Monkman got the Havoc on the board first with a powerplay goal at the 7:17 mark of the first quarter.
Tim Green and Ryan Rutz gave the Cottonmouths a 2-1 lead with powerplay goals with 8:57 left in the first and at the 10:58 mark of the second.
Monkman tied the game at 2-2 with 5:34 left in the second before the Havoc exploded for four goals in the final period.
Jesse Baraniuk gave Huntsville a 3-2 lead just 1:08 into the third with a powerplay goal. Travis Kauffeldt scored his first goal of the season with 9:44 left for the third Havoc powerplay goal of the night.
Monkman then scored back-to-back powerplay goals with 2:50 and :46 left in the game.
Tristan Senior, Trevor Karasiewicz, Jonathan Lounsbury and James Patterson all recorded two assists each while Baraniuk, Mike O'Sullivan and Kelly Miller had one each.
Matt Carmichael stopped 31 shots to get his second win of the season.
The Havoc converted 5-15 powerplays after going 0-10 last night. Columbus was whistled for 65 penalty minutes including 29 in the final period while the Havoc had 32 for the game and none in the final period.
