Macon Mayhem News Release
MACON, GA- After another 3-0 weekend, the Macon Mayhem will play just one game this upcoming week. The team will travel to Fayetteville, NC to play against the Fayetteville FireAntz.
MAYHEM AROUND THE COMMUNITY
The Mayhem will be out in the community in full force this week for a few different community events. The team will be at The Vitamin Shoppe, Quail Run Elementary School, and Gray Elementary School. The dates and times of the events are:
Monday, November 14th (6:30-8:00 PM): Team-captain Matt Summers, assistant-captain Dennis Sicard, and Vadim Guskov will be at The Vitamin Shoppe from 6:30-8:00 PM. The store is located at 167 Quail Run Drive, Macon, GA 31210. They will be there to meet with fans and the people in the Macon community.
Tuesday, November 15th (1:00-2:30 PM): Matt Summers, Dennis Sicard, Jeff Sanders, and Mark Rivera will be at Quail Run Elementary School in Warner Robins packing Thanksgiving food bags for low income families. They will be packing 70+ bags with the students and teachers from 1:00-2:30 PM.
Wednesday, November 16th (1:45-2:30 PM): Four players will be at Gray Elementary School in Gray, GA for a school pep rally from 1:45-2:30 PM to speak to the students and be a part of their fun.
WEEKEND PREVIEW
The Mayhem will play only one game this weekend on Friday night versus the Fayetteville FireAntz. The team went 0-2 this past weekend, losing two games to the Mississippi RiverKings, and they now are 3-5-0 on the season. On Friday night, the team was defeated 3-1 by Mississippi, and on Saturday night, the FireAntz lost 6-4. Tayler Thompson leads the team in points with eight, as he has scored three goals and recorded five assists. Goaltender Sean Bonar has played seven of the team's eight games, and he is 3-4-0 with a 2.58 goals against average (GAA) and a .899 save percentage (SV%).
John Siemer still leads the Mayhem and the SPHL in points with 12. He scored his fifth goal of the season this weekend. Collin MacDonald now has nine points, with four goals and five assists. Jake Trask has been playing on a line with Collin MacDonald, and he now also has nine points. Goaltender Garrett Bartus is now 5-1-1 on the season and has a 2.12 GAA and a .934 SV%. Jordan Ruby picked up his third win of the season and now has a GAA of 1.65 and a SV% of .950.
WEEKEND RECAP
Macon went 3-0-0 for the second straight weekend, and stretched their franchise-record win streak to seven games. They are now 8-1-1 on the season and sit in first place with 17 points. On Friday night, the team travelled to Knoxville, TN to take on the Knoxville Ice Bears. In a wild game, the Mayhem were able to skate away with a 4-1 victory to move back into first place after a day-long hiatus. The team then took on the Evansville Thunderbolts on the road on Saturday and Sunday. On Saturday night, the Mayhem hung on to win 3-1, which included an empty-net goal by Collin MacDonald with 16 seconds left. Then, on Sunday, the team battled to come away with a thrilling 2-1 victory in a shootout.
Collin MacDonald was the leading scorer on the weekend, as he scored three goals and recorded one assist, and on Sunday night, he scored two goals in the shootout to help lead the team to the victory. Leading-scorer John Siemer added two more goals this weekend on Friday and Saturday night. Jake Trask had one goal and two assists on the weekend, while Daniel Echeverri had one goal and one assist. Garrett Bartus went 2-0 on the weekend, stopping 73 of the 75 shots he faced. Jordan Ruby also picked up a win, as he let in one goal on 29 shots in Saturday night's victory.
The Macon Mayhem return home on Friday, November 25th against the Fayetteville FireAntz and Saturday, November 26th against the Columbus Cottonmouths.
