June 15, 2021 - National Arena League (NAL)
Carolina Cobras News Release
GREENSBORO - This Saturday, June 19th, the Carolina Cobras (1-1) will take on the Jersey Flight (0-3) in a season opener rematch now at the Greensboro Coliseum in Greensboro, North Carolina. This highly anticipated home opener has Cobra fans ready to strike after having successful watch parties for the first two games of the season. The Cobras will match up against the Flight for the 2nd time this season, with the first game ending with a game-winning 43-40 field goal kick thriller in Trenton, NJ. Now the hype between the exciting week one matchup has found it's way to Carolina.
The Cobras are coming off of their first loss on the season against the undefeated Albany Empire 83-58, despite the outcome the Cobras offense continues rack up over 51points per game with Cobras quarterback Sam Casronova under center. Last week, Casronova went 21-27 in passing, throwing for 286 yards and 7 touchdowns. BJ Bunn caught 10 passes for 147 receiving yards and hauled in two touchdowns while Kendrick Ings had a five touchdown night snagging nine catches for 137 yards. Ings currently leads the team with nine touchdowns this season.
The biggest threat to the Cobras repeating their week 1 victory is stopping 2017 NAL MVP quarterback Warren Smith and former Cobras receiver Tyron Laughinghouse who currently have four receiving touchdowns two of which he scored against the Cobras in the season opener. The Cobras defense has leaned on the line up front with over six tackles for loss and two sacks so far this season. Their best performance came against the Flight and the Cobras return home is a perfect recipe for a huge defensive performance at home with the Cobras crazies and the snake pit crowd.
The kick-off is at 7 p.m. ET with tickets still on sale and fans can get them by calling (336) 445-7232. This is a game that fans do not want to miss a second of so be sure to get there early as this will be a jam-packed family event!
