June 8, 2021 - National Arena League (NAL)
Carolina Cobras News Release
GREENSBORO - This Saturday, June 12th, the Carolina Cobras (1-0) will take on the Albany Empire (2-0) at the Time Union Center in Albany, New York. These two undefeated teams will meet for the first time in NAL history as Albany sits as 1st in the NAL after defeating both the Columbus Lions (1-1) and the Jersey Flight (0-2). The Cobras will enter their second game after following a week 2 bye week, Carolina opened the season with a road victory over the Jersey Flight.
The Empire came off an impressive victory in their last outing against the Jersey Flight, where they put up 60 points and held the Flight offense to only 25 points. Six touchdowns for the Empire came by the way of their quarterback Tommy Grady who also threw five against the Columbus Lions in week one. The Empire appear to be the toughest opponent on the Cobras schedule at home but a victory against the Empire will establish the Cobras for 1st place in the NAL with a homecoming return to Greensboro for their home opener on June 19 with five games left on the schedule.
The last time the Cobras saw action was in week one, where they upset the Jersey Flight in Trenton, NJ with a last minute field goal the season opener 45-42. Much like the Empire, the Cobras relied on their quarterback to make plays. Carolina's Sam Castronova deput did not disappoint following his 15 of 28 completions and five touchdown performance.
