Columbus 5, Huntsville 2
HUNTSVILLE, AL - Craig Stahl scored two goals and had one assist as the Columbus Cottonmouths handed the Huntsville Havoc their fifth straight loss 5-2 Thursday night.
Lorne Masita, Ryan Rutz and Joel Pullman all added goals for Columbus. Tylor Keller had three assists, Ryan Aikia had two and Ryan Haggarty, Chris Rook, Matt Mathias all had one each.
Jeff Dams and Josh Liebenow (shorthanded) scored for the Havoc. Brandon Doria and Dan Buccella both had one assist.
Columbus was 2-of-6 on the power play while Huntsville was 0-of-4.
Asheville 1, Huntsville 6
HUNTSVILLE, AL - Josh Liebenow recorded his first hat trick of the season and added an assist as the Huntsville Havoc snapped a five game losing streak with a 6-1 win over the Asheville Aces.
Liebenow put the Havoc on the board with 8:58 left in the first period on a power play goal. Steve Howard and Doug Merrell had the assists. Jeff Dams added a short-handed goal with 1:26 left in the first on a Liebenow assist.
Liebenow added his second goal with 13:11 in the second period. Brandon Doria and Brad McDonald got the assists. Liebenow added his third goal two minutes later with assists from Jason deGuehery and McDonald.
Asheville got on the board with 8:04 left in the second when R.J. Roy found the back of the net. Chad Brandimore and Peter Cermak had the assists.
Howard added the second Havoc powerplay goal with 2:39 left in the second to give Huntsville a 5-1 lead heading into the final period. McDonald and Dams had the assists.
Doug Merrell finished the scoring with 4:24 left in the final period. Luke Phillips got the assist.
Matt Carmichael got the win for Huntsville stopping 28-of-29 shots. Nick Neidert took the loss stopping 36-of-42. The Havoc was 2-of-7 on the power play while Asheville was 0-of-6.
Macon 2, Huntsville 3 OT
HUNTSVILLE, AL - James Patterson scored with 3:22 left in the overtime period lifting the Huntsville Havoc to a 3-2 win over the Macon Trax in front of 5,027 fans Saturday night.
Chris Duggan got Macon on the board first with an even-strength goal just 6:23 into the game.
Brad McDonald tied the game at 1-1 with his fourth goal of the season with 11:20 left in the first period. Steve Howard and Patterson had the assists. Art Mnatasakanov put Macon back up 2-1 with a goal in the second period with assists from Duggan and Dominick Dawes.
Josh Liebenow tied the game at 2-2 with 13:49 left in the game. It was his fourth goal in two nights. McDonald and Patterson assisted.
Matt Carmichael stopped 32 shots to get his 15th win of the season. Terry Denike took the loss for Macon. He had 37 saves. Huntsville was 1-of-4 on the power play while Macon was 0-of-1.
