Huntsville Havoc News Release
The Huntsville Havoc dropped two games over the weekend with a 5-1 loss on the road in Richmond Friday night and a 3-2 overtime loss to Knoxville at home on Saturday night.
Friday, January 12 - Huntsville 1, Richmond 5
RICHMOND, Va. - It took five meetings before the Richmond Renegades finally got their first win of the season over the Huntsville Havoc with a 5-1 win on Friday night.
Tim Hockley scored the only Havoc goal on the powerplay with 9:04 left in the third period.
Richmond had a 2-0 lead after one period on goals by Donald Melnyk and Andre Gill. Gill and Tyler Schremp then added second period goals giving Richmond a 4-0 after two periods. Dean Jackson added a third period goal for the Renegades.
Matt Carmichael allowed all five goals while making 17 saves. Doug Groenestege got the win by stopping 47 shots. Huntsville was only 1-13 on the powerplay while Richmond was 0-2.
Saturday, January 13 - Knoxville 3, Huntsville 2, OT
HUNTSVILLE, Ala. - The sellout crowd of 6,658 got their money's worth Saturday night as the Huntsville Havoc fell 3-2 to the Knoxville Ice Bears in overtime.
Mike Tuomi scored on the powerplay just 1:11 into overtime to give the Ice Bears the win.
Both teams scored a goal each in the second and third period. David Segal scored for Knoxville in the second while Travis Kauffeldt scored for Huntsville.
Craig Bushey gave the Havoc the lead in the third before Rob Flynn tied it up with 4:19 left.
Ervins Mustukovs got the win for Knoxville stopping 35 shots. Matt Carmichael stopped 32 shots in the loss. All three Knoxville goals were on the powerplay.

Saturday, January 20 vs Jacksonville Barracudas- The Havoc players will be wearing special jerseys that will be auctioned off after the game. Proceeds from the auction will go to support the Melissa George Neonatal Memorial Fund at Huntsville Hospital This fund helps provide equipment and services to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU).
