Winston-Salem 4, Huntsville 3 OT
HUNTSVILLE, AL - Winston-Salem scored three goals in 1:17 to tie the game at 3-3 and Shaun Aebig scored in overtime to give the Polar Twins a 4-3 win over the Huntsville Havoc Thursday night. Huntsville went up 3-0 on goals by Doug Merrell, Derek McKinlay and Josh Leibenow.
Mike Walling (18:43), Brett Cross (19:07) and Chester Gallant (19:50) scored in the third to tie the game. Adam MacLean was great in goal for the first 58 minutes stopping shot after shot. He finished the game with 23 saves. Jomar Cruz got the win for Winston-Salem. He stopped 42-of-45 shots.
Knoxville 4, Huntsville 2
HUNTSVILLE, AL - For the second night in a row the Huntsville Havoc took a shutout late into the third period and both nights the opposing teams rallied to grab the win. The Knoxville Ice Bears trailed 2-0 with 3:17 left in the game before the Havoc surrendered four goals to lose 4-2. Kevin Swider, Mike Craigen, Dour Searle and Craigen again, on an empty net goal, all scored for Knoxville.
Huntsville had gone up 2-0 on goals by Jeff Dams and Luke Phillips but once again saw the lead slip away. Jamie Ronayne stopped 32-of-34 shots to get the win. Matt Carmicheal stopped 33-of-36 in the loss.
Huntsville 1, Macon 3
MACON, GA - The Macon Trax scored two goals in the second period and one in the third on their way to a 3-1 win over the Huntsville Havoc. It was the fourth straight loss for Huntsville. Huntsville scored first on a goal by Luke Phillips and with the assist from Dan Buccella. .
