Washington Wild Things News Release

The Washington Wild Things, presented by Washington Federal Savings Bank, had a soggy evening Tuesday when they visited the Florence Freedom in Hamilton, Ohio. The two teams were scheduled for a double header (two seven inning games) since Monday's game had been rained out.

The Wild Things' record fell to 24-16 when the Washington team lost to Florence 5-2 in the first game after a 65 minute rain delay.

Dave Bradley took the loss, giving up five runs in the second inning. Bradley's record falls to 4-3.

The Wild Things scored two runs in the fifth inning, and rallied in the seventh by loading the bases, preparing to tie the score. But, relief pitcher Chris Rival, struck Jay Coakley out, and the Freedom improved their season record to 8 – 32.

The second game was suspended in the bottom of the second inning due to the weather. The teams will continue that game when Florence visits Washington in mid July, following the All-Star break.

When the game was suspended, the Wild Things led 2 – 0.

The Frontier League All-Star team was announced Tuesday. The Wild Things will send five players: Third Baseman, Jason Kane, Infielder, Zach Cates, Designated Hitter, Jay Coakley; Pitcher, David Bradley; and Pitcher, Anthony Kozol. The 11th All-Star Game will be played at GMC Stadium in Sauget, Illinois on Wednesday, July 16th.

The Wild Things will meet the Kalamazoo Kings Wednesday in Kalamazoo. They return home on Saturday when they'll meet the Richmond Roosters in an early 3:35 p.m. game. The Buffett Man Night, scheduled for the 12th will include theme uniforms for the players along with a performance from Buffett Man, Tom Watt. The game will be televised on Fox Sports Net Pittsburgh.
