Winnipeg Blue Bombers News Release
WINNIPEG, MB â Join the Winnipeg Blue Bombers and Canada Safeway as they help tackle cancer in support of CancerCare Manitoba.
During the month of April, which is cancer month, all 35 Safeway locations in the Winnipeg region will be promoting and selling the "Never Alone" bracelets in support of CancerCare Manitoba.
The "Never Alone" wristband program will not only raise funds for research and education through CancerCare Manitoba, it will also publicly display to all who see the band, that we are in this together for the benefit of all.
Statistics show that one in three people will at some point in time have a cancer diagnosis and this is projected to double over the next ten years. What this means is that the odds of all of us being personally affected or a close family member being affected are almost a certainty. It also means that we need to be ready to support these people and let them know that they are "Never Alone" in their fight against this deadly disease.
"None of us know what the future will bring however one thing is for certain; with the team of CancerCare Manitoba, The Winnipeg Blue Bombers, Canada Safeway, and you.... we are "Never Alone". " said Lyle Bauer, President and CEO of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.
"As a significant supporter of both the football club and CancerCare Manitoba, we're pleased to be able to make available the "Never Alone" bracelets in our Winnipeg region stores. For over 75 years Safeway and its customers have been lending a helping hand and we are confident our customers will again show their support of this exciting program." said John Graham, Public Affairs Manager for Canada Safeway.
CancerCare Manitoba Executive Director Barry McArton said "CancerCare Manitoba Foundation has been honored to be part of the collaborative team efforts of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers and Canada Safeway. The addition of Canada Safeway to the team further strengthens our awareness campaigns, while financially supporting the efforts of our dedicated team of doctors, researchers, medical staff and families. We are grateful for their involvement and privileged to have them join the team."
"Never Alone" bracelets are also available for five dollars at the Blue Bomber office and Bomber Store, both located at 1465 Maroons Road and are also at www.bluebombers.com.
