
New receiver at training camp

Montreal, Mar. 31, 2005 - Montreal Alouettes' General Manager Jim Popp is thrilled to announce that receiver Jay Chapman will be at training camp.
Chapman (6'2'', 215 lbs) attended the NFL's Cincinnati Bengals' training camp in 2004. He led the receivers at St. Augustine's College in two consecutive seasons as he caught 36 passes for gains of 412 yards and seven touchdowns in 2003 and caught 28 passes for 430 yards and three touchdowns in 2002. The 25-year-old started his college career with the Syracuse Orangemen.
Philippe Girard retires
Linebacker Philippe Girard announced his retirement from football today. The 31-year-old Montrealer started his career in 1998 with the Edmonton Eskimos before signing as a free agent with the Alouettes in 2003. He is very proud of his seven seasons in the Canadian Football League. He now works as an account manager in advertising for TVA Publications.
« We are pleased with Philippe's contribution to our organization in the last two years, » said Jim Popp. « He was a great representative for our organization on and off the field. We wish him the best of luck in his new career which seems to have started very well. »
