Last Week's Outings:

MONTERREY, MEXICO (Jan. 10, 2008) -- Greg Howes scored four goals and added an assist as the Milwaukee Wave improved to 2-0 on their five-game road trip, beating La Raza de Monterrey 22-15 on Thursday night.

Howes overtook the MISL scoring lead with 55 points as the Wave improved to 10-4 and momentarily took a half-game lead over Detroit and Chicago for first place in the league.

Marcio Leite broke out of a slump with two goals and an assist as the Wave put at least 20 points on La Raza's league-worst defense for the second time in three meetings this season.

A skirmish with just 9.1 seconds left, after a boarding foul by La Raza's Ivan Medina on Brett Wiesner, led to a red card against the Wave's Joe Hammes. He'll miss Sunday night's game at California.

Milwaukee took control of the game in the second quarter with five goals, including three by Howes. It was 14-7 at half, then Howes and Jonathan Santos tallied within 13 seconds early in the fourth quarter to push the margin to 20-11.

Deco and Warren Ukah each contributed a goal and assist, and Marcelo Fontana added two assists for the Wave, who are 7-0 against expansion teams Orlando, Monterrey and New Jersey.

STOCKTON, Calif. (Jan. 13, 2008) - Greg Howes added three goals and an assist to his league-leading point total as the Milwaukee Wave won their sixth consecutive road game Sunday evening, 17-9 over the California Cougars.

The Wave (11-4) forged a half-game lead over the Detroit Ignition in the MISL standings heading into Friday's match at Detroit.

Trailing 9-6 at halftime, the Wave dominated the second half. The key play occurred on a power play with 13:38 remaining. Howes attacked up the right flank and played a ball hard off the end boards on the far side. The ball rebounded to Troy Dusosky, who one-timed a 3-pointer past Sanaldo to put the Wave on top 13-9. Howes completed a hat trick about 90 seconds later on a nifty backheel from Adam West.

Rookie Jonathan Santos had his first two-goal game and Tijani Ayegbusi scored his first MISL goal in 98 games as the Wave shut out the Cougars in the second half.

Ayegbusi scored with 5:22 remaining in the first quarter, tying the score at 4. He authored a nice move to get just inside the 3-point line on the right edge of the penalty area, then fired a right-footed shot that deflected off a sliding defender and past Sanaldo. He later assisted on Santos' first goal.

While Ayegbusi has one career goal, Howes has seven in the last two games. He has 62 points, 12 clear of Monterrey's Dino Delevski at the Wave's halfway point.

The Wave also killed three power plays in four chances, while converting their only two power -play tries.

BRAUN, GALLARDO PUT NAMES ON WAVE OF KINDNESS HARLEY

MILWAUKEE (Jan. 16, 2008) - In June, just his first full month in the Major Leagues, Ryan Braun crushed the ball and earned National League Rookie of the Month honors.

Just wait until the pitchers get to know him, the experts said.

Well, in July, Braun was the NL Rookie of the Month and NL Player of the Month, and pitchers still have no idea what to do with the 24-year-old Brewers star. He became National League Rookie of the Year - but he wasn't the only Brewers newcomer to have a great first season.

Yovani Gallardo was 9-5 with a 3.67 ERA after his June callup from Triple A, and the 21-year-old is just one more reason Brewers fans can't wait for Opening Day.

Braun and Gallardo both autographed the Milwaukee Wave of Kindness Harley-Davidson Sportster XL 883 on Wednesday, joining a list of names that includes Pele, Tom Crean, Bonnie Blair, Fuzzy Thurston and more.

All season long, fans can buy raffle tickets to win the bike that has been painted a special Milwaukee Wave blue and will be autographed by various celebrities throughout the winter. Tickets are $1 each or six for $5 and can be purchased online at www.milwaukeewave.com and at all Milwaukee Wave games.

The winning ticket will be drawn at the Major Indoor Soccer League championship game on April 26 at the U.S. Cellular Arena.

Raffle proceeds will benefit Wave of Kindness, a nonprofit organization that brings soccer to inner-city youth through camp scholarships, game tickets, clinics and more. For more information on Wave of Kindness, visit www.milwaukeewave.com and click on the Wave of Kindness link.

You can see the bike this Friday at Major Goolsby's, when the Wave throws a viewing party for their game at Detroit, beginning at 6:35 p.m. on Time Warner Sports. Come see the bike, meet Wave players and actor Mark Metcalf and enjoy food and specials.

Suburban Motors in Thiensville is a partner of the Wave on this charity project.
