November 17th Outing: Wave 16, Sharks 7

Marcio Leite's six-point night led a long-awaited breakout performance for the Milwaukee Wave offense Saturday November 17th in a 16-7 victory over the Orlando Sharks at the U.S. Cellular Arena.

The Wave (2-2) took control with an eight-point second quarter, going from a 5-4 deficit to a 12-5 halftime lead. They also scored in the last minute of each of the first three quarters to keep the expansion Sharks (0-4) winless.

Leite opened the scoring off a feed from Marcelo Fontana, then later dished off to rookie Joe DiBuono before the first quarter was out. He assisted on Joe Hammes' second goal of the season in the second quarter, then roofed one with just 45 seconds remaining in the third. That goal was assisted by Warren Ukah, his first point with the Wave since signing this week.

Brazilian rookie Chico recorded his first point with the team as well on a fine individual effort in the second quarter. He pressured Orlando keeper Paul Nagy, who was outside the penalty area playing a ball with his feet. Chico poked the ball away and fired it off the corner boards, where it found Giuliano Olivero in the clear for his first goal of the season.

Nick Vorberg continued his strong play in the nets; he gave up his first three-pointer of the season on a deflected ball in the first half but surrendered just a single goal after halftime.

Troy Dusosky scored two goals and Marcelo Fontana added a goal and two assists for the Wave.

Recognize your Everyday Superhero with TMJ

Some superheroes wear capes. Others fly, boast X-ray vision or flash a mean Freeze Ray.

Everyday Superheroes are equally awe-inspiring, without all the cartoon magic. They rush into burning homes, volunteer for combat or keep the peace. They labor at soup kitchens, work with inner-city youth or comfort the infirm. They are your neighbors and friends.

The Milwaukee Wave professional indoor soccer team, Newsradio 620 WTMJ and the American Red Cross are teaming up to honor "Everyday Superheroes" on Friday, Dec. 7, when the Wave host the Philadelphia KiXX at the U.S. Cellular Arena. Be a hero yourself by donating blood to the Red Cross during the event from noon to 6 p.m. Area policemen and firefighters will square off in a pre-game "Battle of the Badges" dodgeball tournament, with the finals held at halftime. Jeff Wagner of Newsradio 620 WTMJ will emcee the halftime, which also includes presentation of the winners of a communitywide "Everyday Superheroes" contest. A military color guard and National Anthem will round out the event. Kickoff is at 7 p.m.

Everyone who donates blood to the Red Cross during "Everyday Superheroes" will receive two free ticket vouchers to a different Milwaukee Wave home game, a voucher for free parking at the Hyatt garage just across the street from the U.S. Cellular Arena, and a T-shirt.
