November 17, 2007: Ignition, 16 Cougars, 13
The Detroit Ignition (3-1) defeated the California Cougars (1-2) 16-13 on November 17 in Stockton, California.
Cougars midfielder Brian Farber scored first to give California a 2-0 lead. But, the Ignition answered right back as Jamar Beasley, Ryan Mack and Droo Callahan each notched goals to give the Ignition a 6-2 lead.
California defender Matt Caution was able to notch a two-point score midway through the second period to bring the score to 6-4. Detroit would tack on two more goals, first by Mike Apple with an assist by Beasley during a power play 10:09 into the second. Mack then scored his second goal of the game less than 30 seconds later to extend the Ignition lead to 10-4. Mack's goal came 10:31 into the second, assisted by Matt Johnson.
The Cougars defense had few answers for the Ignition offense throughout the first two quarters of play. Detroit struck again in the second half as rookie Vahid Assadpour scored his first goal in an Ignition uniform just 1:57 into the third to increase the club's lead to 12-4. At 6:46 in the third, Apple posted another two points for the Ignition. Seven second later, Cougars midfielder Semir Mesanovic cut the lead down to14-6 with a two-point goal assisted by forward Enrique Tovar.

The Cougars would score seven more points in the final period, but the comeback wasn't enough to overtake the Ignition who won the contest 16-13.
