Ignition Will Play Host To 3v3 Xperience In July

(Southfield, Mich., June 4, 2009) - The XSL Champion Detroit Ignition are taking Xtreme soccer outdoors this summer with their first 3v3 tournament on Saturday, July 25, 2009. The Triple Threat 3 on 3 Challenge will be held at Independence Park in Canton at 9:00 am.

Male and female players of all skill levels and ages can compete in age groups that range from kids under six to adults over 30. Teams can choose to play at the recreational or competitive level when they register. On top of prize packs for all Champion teams, the Ignition will also give prizes for sportsmanship and raffle winners. Ignition players will be conducting a clinic for all registered players at the park as part of the event.

"This tournament is an exciting way for us to interact with the community," Ignition Head Coach Matt Johnson said. "3v3 is a lot of fun, there is a ton of scoring and shooting which everybody likes. The whole event should be a really great day for the whole family."

3v3 soccer is played with a maximum of five players per team, including three field players and two substitutes. There are no goalkeepers in 3v3. Coed teams must have one female on the field at all times. Triple Threat 3 on 3 games will consist of two 15-minute halves; each team is guaranteed at least three games. The Detroit Ignition is a professional indoor soccer team and a charter member of the Xtreme Soccer League. The team completed their third season in April 2009 by winning the XSL Championship.
