Montreal Alouettes News Release

Montreal, Feb. 15, 2010 - Montreal Alouettes' Vice President and General Manager Jim Popp is pleased to announce that import wide receiver Kerry Watkins and non-import fullback Kerry Carter have both re-signed for two years plus an option, while import defensive end Jermaine McElveen has also re-signed for a year plus an option.

"It's great that Kerry (Watkins) has decided to continue his career with us; he was the final piece of our starting 12 to lock in for 2010. We are happy that he wants to continue to be a part of our winning organization," Jim Popp said. "As for Jermaine, we're very happy with his steady progress since he first joined us and we know his best years are yet to come. Kerry (Carter) is also a great signing - he has battled through some tough injuries, but we know his best years are ahead of him."

A two-time CFL All-Star, Watkins (5'10'', 183 lbs) will be in his seventh season as an Alouette in 2010 after finishing second in the CFL with 1,243 receiving yards in 2009. An All-Canadian and East Division All-Star, he was also fourth with 81 receptions and second on the Alouettes with eight receiving touchdowns. He surpassed 1,000 receiving yards in a season for the fifth consecutive season, becoming just the second Alouette to accomplish this feat.

Carter (6'2'', 237 lbs) will play his fourth season at fullback with the Alouettes, having recorded over 300 yards from scrimmage and a pair of touchdowns in 2009. He also registered six special teams tackles. He made a crucial two-point convert during the Grey Cup, catching a five-yard pass late in the game in the Alouettes' winning comeback over the Roughriders. He has also played with the Seattle Seahawks and the Washington Redskins.

McElveen (6'4'', 250 lbs) has played 25 career games with the Alouettes. He recorded 26 defensive tackles, four special teams tackles, three sacks and one tackle for a loss in 2009. He played with the Tennessee Titans before joining the Alouettes in 2007.
