BC Lions in the community: February 16th - 20th
(Vancouver) Members of the BC Lions Football Club will be out in the community this week in support of the club's Read, Write & Roar and Lions Pride programs in addition to two other local events.
The Read, Write and Roar program emphasizes the importance of reading and writing, with an aim of promoting literacy among elementary-aged children. Last season, the program partnered with 15 Lower Mainland school districts and had more than 25,000 students participate in the initiative.
In partnership with the Victim Services and Crime Prevention Division of the Ministry of Public Safety, Lions Pride is an outreach program highlighting the importance of making positive choices and choosing alternate activities to gang involvement. This season, the Lions will visit 24 high schools throughout Surrey, Abbotsford, Richmond and Vancouver, and will make an additional eight stops in Prince George and Kamloops.
