Washington Wild Things News Release

Washington, PA - The Washington Wild Things issued the 2017 baseball schedule Monday.  The 98 game Frontier League schedule finds the Wild Things hosting 48 games in Washington, including nine weekend series and five Wednesday double headers.

The Wild Things will start the season in Chicago when they face Windy City on Friday, May 12.  Washington will host those same Windy City Thunderbolts at home the following Friday, May 19th for their home opener.

"We're pleased with the way our scheduled turned out this year," said Steven Zavacky, General Manager.  "When you look at the schedule you'll see we have nine weekends, which are attractive to our fans.  We're home the weekends before and after the July 4th holiday, so people who are taking a full week will be able to come to the park and enjoy some great baseball."

The Wild Things will bring back many of the popular promotions including Thirsty Thursday, Fireworks Friday, Giveaway Saturday, and Kid's Day Sunday.  In addition, the Wild Things will institute a Throwback Thursday promotion when the team will look back at its 15 year history and don replica uniforms from 2002.  Those jerseys will be auctioned off to benefit charity at the end of the 2017 campaign.

Also returning in 2017 will be an updated Kid's Club on Sundays as well as the return of the Silver Slugger Program, which is designed for senior citizens who want to take advantage of discounts and receive perks .

Fans will also see the return of community nights, Military Night, Scout Night, Faith Night, and Winner's Day, and the Reading Program.

"Our front office staff has been working on the promotions and schedule of events," added Zavacky.  "We hope to have things in place within the next few weeks so fans will have an opportunity to purchase their ticket packages accordingly.  It looks like it will shape up to be a great season!"

The Wild Things are currently accepting deposits on season ticket packages and group packages.  For more information, call the box office at 724.250.9555.  Be sure to check the website ( www.washingtonwildthings.com ) for details about the promotional schedule which should be issued soon.  And follow the team on Twitter and Facebook.
