Washington to Edmonton: Esks sign new linebacker

(Edmonton) The Edmonton Eskimos have signed free agent import linebacker Thaddaeus Washington, the club announced today.

Regarded as one of the hardest hitting linebackers in the Big 12 Conference during his career at the University of Colorado, Washington ranks eighth on CU's all-time list with 338 tackles, tenth in solo tackles (202). As a senior in 2006, Washington was second on the Buffaloes with 107 tackles and earned honourable mention from both the All-Big 12 Conference and the Associated Press. He was also named to ESPN's "All-May Day" team which recognizes the toughest players by position.

In 2007, Washington signed as an undrafted free agent with Buffalo and was released following the pre-season.

The New Orleans, LA native was a highly touted college recruit. As a high school senior, Washington was ranked #8 in the state by SuperPrep and the #30 ranked linebacker in the nation by Rivals.com.
