Missoula PaddleHeads News Release

MISSOULA, Mont. - Washington State University baseball heads to Ogren Park Allegiance Field to host a youth baseball camp Aug. 20-21. The two-day camp costs $100, runs from 9 a.m. to noon daily, and is open to youth ages 8-16.

Two WSU baseball players, Ben Roberts of Missoula, Mont. and Joe Pistorese of Kalispell, Mont., will help run the camp. As a redshirt sophomore during the 2014 season at WSU, Roberts hit .289 and ranked third on the team in RBI (21). Pistorese, a left-handed pitcher, started 13 games for the Cougars in 2014 and ranked third on the team in strikeouts (48) and ERA (3.31). The junior also led the team in opponent batting average (.245).

Roberts was drafted by the Arizona Diamondbacks in the 7th round in 2011 and decided to play for WSU rather than start a professional career out of high school. Pistorese was drafted by the Chicago White Sox in the 44th round of the same 2011 draft and also elected to attend WSU.

The Osprey have a former Washington State player on their current roster in infielder Taylor Ard, who played for the Cougs before being drafted by the Seattle Mariners in the 7th round in 2012.
