Raptors Battle Back to Split Series
August 19, 2014 - Pioneer League (PL)
Helena Brewers News Release
The Ogden Raptors (11-10) pitched their way to a 7-1 victory on Monday to split their four-game series with the Helena Brewers (9-13).
The Brewers would set a season-low with just three hits in the game, two of which belonged to Alan Sharkey. Sharkey went 2-for-2 with two walks, reaching in all four of his plate appearances. He has now reached safely in eight straight at-bats.
The Raptors hit two home runs in the first inning off Jorge Ortega (3-4), both of which were solo shots. They came back-to-back from Julian Leon and Justin Chigbogu, the third and fourth hitters in the lineup. Chigbogu hit two in the game, putting him two homers ahead of Aristedes Aquino for the Pioneer League lead.
The lone Helena run came in the sixth. Sharkey hit a one-out double and scored two batters later on an RBI double from Tucker Neuhaus. Neuhaus is responsible for hitting in every run in the last two Brewers games.
The Brewers will now head to Great Falls for a two-game series with the Voyagers. First pitch on Wednesday from Centene Stadium is set for 7:00 p.m.
