Washington Spirit News Release
Washington, D.C. - The defending NWSL champion Washington Spirit unveiled its 2021 league championship-commemorating rings on Monday. The rings will be distributed to players during the official championship celebration following the Spirit's season opener against OL Reign on Sunday, May 1 at Audi Field. The rings feature 10-karat gold and diamonds developed in collaboration with Jostens, the memorabilia company known for its work on the Atlanta Braves' 2021 World Series ring and the Tampa Bay Lightning's 2021 Stanley Cup ring as well as 36 Super Bowl rings dating back to Super Bowl I.
Each player's last name and number (as it was during the 2021 season) is featured on the left-hand side of the ring with a depiction of the NWSL championship trophy and the date of last year's final on the right-hand side. Above the trophy image is the team's 2021 mantra, "SEND IT," which the players adopted to signify their intent to leave everything they had out on the field. The inside of each ring is inscribed with the championship matchup and the 2-1 final score. The top of the ring features the Washington Spirit crest and 120 stones in total, with 54 in bezel and 66 in goldstone.
Washington Spirit club majority owner Michele Kang will present Spirit players with their hard-earned hardware after a celebratory banner is unveiled at Audi Field following the season opener on May 1 and Mayor Muriel Bowser will reveal a proclamation declaring November 20 to be Washington Spirit Day. Full details on the championship celebration program can be found here.
In addition to celebrations on match day, the Spirit is celebrating the championship with fans by giving away three championship rings. Fans can enter to win here by purchasing a Full 90 Club season ticket membership. Information on Full 90 Club memberships is available here or by calling 202-536-5999.
