CRESTWOOD, IL - The Washington Wild Things scored four runs in the first inning and never looked back as they defeated the ThunderBolts 12-0 in game one of a three-game series at Ozinga Field Tuesday night.
Sean Leland struck out the first two batters of the game before the Wild Things (28-39) jumped on him with five straight two-out singles. Alex Murphy and JJ Fernandez picked up the first two RBIs and Cameron Baranek had the next two.
They poured on six more runs in the fourth inning. Shaine Hughes hit an RBI single and Fernandez drove him in with a double. He finished the game with five hits including three doubles.
With the bases loaded and two outs in the fourth, Drew Bene brought home three runs with a double to break the game wide open and Ryan Cox's double that scored Bene made it 10-0.
