SANTA CRUZ, Calif. - The Santa Cruz Warriors defeated the Texas Legends 119-111 on Sunday night at Kaiser Permanente Arena. The Warriors remain perfect (4-0) against the Legends this season, and extend their franchise record for most wins in a season to 34.
Santa Cruz was led by Taylor Griffin who recorded 24 points and 8 rebounds. Mychel Thompson contributed with 22 points on an 8 of 12 shooting effort.
Texas received a solid performance from Eric Griffin who finished with 25 points. Jarrid Famous recorded a double-double, notching 21points and 13 rebounds.
The first quarter saw Texas race ahead early, outscoring Santa Cruz 35-26 to grab a nine point edge heading into the second quarter. The Warriors would push back against Texas in the second period to lead by as many as 8 points, entering the break with a three-point edge.
Santa Cruz and Texas stayed within striking distance of each other, switching leads twice in the third quarter. The Warriors would head into the final frame with the 91-84 edge behind Mychel Thompson's 10 third quarter points. The fourth period saw Santa Cruz maintain and extend their lead by as many as 15 points, coasting to a victory over the Legends.
