Warriors Open with 8-7 Thriller in San Diego

SAN DIEGO - Mitch Jones scored five goals and Alex Buque made 46 saves as the Vancouver Warriors shut down the high powered San Diego Seals 8-7 in the first NLL game in 635 days.

Buque was outstanding in the nets for Vancouver on the evening, especially in the opening half, turning aside 29 shots to keep the Warriors in the game. Jones added to his reputation as a big game player, scoring five goals on the night, with one in each quarter and two in the third to keep the Warriors close.

Rookie Adam Charalambides had a nice first NLL game, scoring the game winning goal and adding an assist while fellow first rounder Reid Bowering also contributed on offense for Vancouver, setting up newcomer Marty Dinsdale with the game tying goal with just under four minutes to play. Charalambides game winner came with just over three minutes to play, with the Warriors holding the fort the rest of the way.

Mitch Jones with five, other markers to Adam Charalambides, Marty Dinsdale and Keegan Bal. Dinsdale and Bal had four point nights, each with a goal and three assists.

Vancouver will continue their opening two game road trip, heading down to Texas to take on the Panther City Lacrosse Club in their first ever home game in Ft Worth. Game time in Texas will be 5:30 PST.

The Warriors' home opener is on December 17th at 7:30pm PT. The Warriors will be playing 18 games this season with nine games played at home in Rogers Arena.
