Seattle, January 14, 2007 - The Moose Jaw Warriors defeated the Seattle Thunderbirds 5-3 Sunday night at the Moose Jaw Civic Centre.

The T-Birds are 20-13-1-10 and tied for second place in the US Division with the Spokane Chiefs.

The T-Birds six-game road trip to the Eastern Division continues when they face the Swift Current Broncos on Tuesday, January 16, at 6 p.m. Moose Jaw took a 1-0 lead at 16:42 of the first period on a goal by Riley Holzapfel. Brady Calla and Ryley Grantham had the assists.

Moose Jaw (15-25-3-0) outshot Seattle 13-6 in the first period.

The Warriors made it 2-0 on a goal by Steve Gillen at 14:35 of the second period. Travis Ehrhardt and Jordan Knackstedt had the assists.

Greg Scott scored an unassisted goal at 18:47 of the second to get the T-Birds on the board. Scott came into the Moose Jaw zone on the right side, beat a Warriors defender with a move, and came in alone on Moose Jaw goalie Joey Perricone. Scott beat Perricone high on the glove side for his 12th goal of the year.

Moose Jaw led 30-19 in shots after two periods by outshooting Seattle 17-13 in the second period.

Knackstedt gave the Warriors a 3-1 lead when he scored at 2:27 of the third period off an assist from Matt Isbister.

Knackstedt scored a short-handed goal at 3:51 of the third to give the Warriors a 4-1 lead. Gillen had the only assist on the goal.

Radek Meidl knocked in a rebound of a Thomas Hickey shot for a power-play goal at 9:41 of the third to get the T- Birds second goal in the game. Bud Holloway had the second assist for Seattle. Seattle cut the Moose Jaw lead to one goal at 11:03 of the third. Scott Jackson took a slap shot from the right point that Perricone stopped. Brett Robertson took control of the rebound to the right of the goal. Robertson put the rebound back beating Perricone on the stick side. Andre Herman had the other T-Bird assist.

Jason Reese scored an unassisted empty-net goal at 18:51 of the third to make it a 5-3 Warriors lead.

Both teams had 10 shots on goal in the third period and the Warriors ended the game with a 40-29 advantage.

Seattle goalie Derek Yeomans made 35 saves on 39 shots and his record is now 15-8-1-8.

Perricone stopped 26 of 29 shots and his record is now 12-18-2-0.

Seattle is 1-2-0-1 so far on their six-game Eastern Division road trip.

The T-Birds finish out the road trip with a rescheduled game against the Prince Albert Raiders on Wednesday, January 17, at 5:30 p.m.

The T-Birds return home on Saturday, January 20, to face the Portland Winter Hawks at KeyArena at 7:05 p.m.
