Wamsganz Checks Into CC

Waterloo, Iowa-Waterloo Black Hawks first-year forward Scott Wamsganz has committed to Colorado College, the Hawks announced Thursday.

Wamsganz, a 6-4, 200-pound 17-year-old, is originally from Anchorage, Alaska. The Black Hawks selected him during the second round of the 2008 USHL Futures Draft, 21st overall. In his first four appearances as a Black Hawk, Wamsganz has been credited with one assist.

"Scott's size and potential are very exciting for us, and I'm sure Colorado College feels the same way," said Black Hawks Head Coach P.K. O'Handley. "He is one of several young players who could really make a big impact as a rookie this season in Waterloo."

The Black Hawks currently have nine players with commitments to NCAA Division I universities. Wamsganz will be the latest in a line of Waterloo players to play for the Tigers. Black Hawks alumni Mike Testwuide and Joe Howe are currently on the Colorado College roster. Testwuide has 25 goals in his NCAA career for the Tigers, while Howe was named WCHA Rookie of the Week Tuesday.
