Omaha Lancers News Release
Ryan Daugherty tallied two goals and an assist as the Omaha Lancers dropped the Chicago Steel 5-1 Thursday evening at the Omaha Civic Auditorium. With the win, the Lancers improved to 4-1 on the young season.
The Lancers opened the scoring midway through the first period when Seth Ambroz found a loose puck at the left side of the crease and fired it into an empty cage for his 3rd goal of the season. Stefan Demopoulos and Joe Lavin assisted on the even strength tally notched 10:21 into the opening frame. Omaha's lead was short-lived however as Chicago bounced back just 27 seconds later when Alex Krushelnyski took a loose rebound and turned it into his 2nd goal of the season. Jake Chelios earned the only assist on the 5-on-5 goal scored 10:48 into the period. Omaha regained the lead less than two minutes later when Dakota Eveland fired a side-angle shot past Chicago goaltender Nick Pisellini for his 3rd goal of the season. Daugherty and Lavin garnered assists on the even strength tally notched 12:21 into the period. The Lancers doubled the lead just five minutes later when Daugherty got free on a power play breakaway in slipping his first goal of the season between the pads of Pisellini. Dennis Brown grabbed the only assist on Daugherty's power play marker with a beautiful lead pass to spring the Lancers forward.
Omaha picked up in the second period right where it left off in the first as Daugherty notched his 2nd goal of the game just 14 seconds into the period by swatting a loose puck from the slot just across the Chicago goal line. Eveland grabbed the only assist on the only goal tallied in the middle period.
The Lancers landed the final nail in the coffin midway through the 3rd period when Anthony Hamburg scored his first goal of the season 9:54 into the final frame. Troy Power and Danny Mattson both registered assists on Omaha's second power play goal of the game.
Jeff Teglia earned his 3rd win of the season in net turning aside 25 of Chicago's 26 total shots while Pisellini suffered the loss for the Steel after just 27 saves on Omaha's 31 total shots.
The Lancers are back in action tomorrow evening as they hit the road for the first time this season to take on the Waterloo Black Hawks.
