TOLEDO, OH - Veteran Defensemen Kyle Bushee (bush-ee) has agreed to terms with the Toledo Walleye for the 2015-16 season.
Bushee returns to North America after playing one season in Denmark posting 13 points (5G, 8A) in 36 games for the Aalborg Pirates. Over his pro career, the 30-year-old has appeared in 401 ECHL games between Cincinnati, Johnstown, Wheeling and Elmira with 37 goals and 115 assists.
"Kyle is a significant signing for us," Head Coach Derek Lalonde said. "His experience and leadership will be very valuable to us."
The native of Otsego, Michigan posted a career-best 32 points (9G, 23A) during the 2012-13 season while skating in 63 games for the Elmira Jackals. Bushee set a career best for assists with 24 during the 2010-11 season with the Wheeling Nailers. He has also skated in 22 games in the American Hockey League between seven different teams and has one goal and two assists.
Prior to his pro career, the 6'1", 195-pound defenseman spent two seasons at Western Michigan (2003-2005) with eight assists in 63 total games (81 penalty minutes). Bushee also spent two years at Canisius College (2006-2008) where in 65 games he posted nine goals and 22 assists with 89 penalty minutes.
The 2015-16 home opener is Saturday, November 7 against Adirondack. That will be the first and only time those two teams play each other in 2015-16. Game Plan ticket packages are on sale now. For more information call 419-725-WALL or visit www.toledowalleye.com.
