Greenville Swamp Rabbits News Release
Greenville, SC - The Greenville Road Warriors, proud ECHL affiliate of the New York Rangers and the AHL's Hartford Wolf Pack, today announced the team has agreed to terms with third-year forward Scott Fleming for the 2015-16 season. In addition, the club has signed rookie forward Andrew Dommett to a Professional Tryout Contract (PTO).
Fleming, 27, was a work horse for the Fife Flyers of the United Kingdom's Elite Hockey League (EIHL) last season and averaged nearly a point per game. He finished the season fifth on the squad in scoring with 59 points (26g, 33a) and added 100 penalty minutes in 62 contests.
"Scott is a quality centerman who has good experience at the pro level," Head Coach Brian Gratz said. "He plays fast and makes a difference no matter what situation he's in. He will be a tremendous asset for our offense."
A native of Plainfield, Ontario, Fleming spent his rookie season with Fort Wayne in 2013-14 and ranked third on the squad with 49 points (16g, 33a) in 62 games. He also tied for the team lead with a +14 rating and earned one promotion to the American Hockey League, playing four games with the Worcester Sharks and registering two assists.
Previously, the 5'11, 170-pound forward spent four seasons at Dartmouth College from 2008-12, where he was a consistent standout and notched 106 points (54g, 52a) in 127 contests. He also served as the team's captain during his senior season and led the club in scoring with 31 points (13g, 18a). Fleming made his pro debut with Gwinnett in 2011-12, but appeared in just six contests.
Dommett, 25, looks to begin his pro career this season after spending each of the last four years at Lake Superior State University. In 128 appearances, the Major, Saskatchewan native produced 17 points (9g, 8a) and 61 penalty minutes for the Lakers.
The 5'11, 192-pound forward also played four seasons with the Kindersley Klippers of the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League from 2007-11.
