KELOWNA, BRITISH COLUMBIA -- The Walla Walla Sweets were greeted with rain within moments of arrival at their hotel Monday evening, forcing a doubleheader Tuesday in their first meeting with the Kelowna Falcons this season. The home team won 12-1 in game one before the Sweets put up some early offense to win game two, 6-1.

Walla Walla scored first on the strength of Spencer O'Neil's first home run of the season, a solo shot to center field in the second inning. However Kelowna responded with five runs in the frame, starting with right fielder Grayson Porter's lead-off double off the left field wall. Designated hitter Chandler Tracy followed with a walk before catcher Nolan Johnson's game tying single to right field sent Porter home. Third baseman Cody Andreychuk followed with a single and moved up when left fielder Jarryd Klemm was hit with a pitch. Center fielder Darren Kolk grounded into a fielder's choice but was called out on interference, but a run scored on the play before shortstop Nathan Robertson drove in the fifth run of the inning with another fielder's choice, giving the Falcons a 5-1 lead. The Falcons notched just two extra-base hits in the game as Sweets starter Joe Arlt walked two men and hit three batters on the afternoon.

Walla Walla shortstop Nick Vilter was solid at the plate with three singles in three at-bats, but the Sweets as a team struck out nine times, reaching second base twice. Catcher Renae Martinez singled and stole a base in the second inning, with another single in the fifth. He advanced on a passed ball in the frame but was stranded as the next three hitters went down in order.

Kelowna scored in each inning from the second frame to the final pitch. Porter led off the third inning being hit by a pitch and later scored. Robbins and first baseman Stetson Olson both walked and scored in the fourth before Kelowna batted around for the second time in the fifth, bring four runs home. Robbins drove in another in the sixth with a single to finish the scoring at 12-1.

Falcons starter Nolan Savage picked up his second win of the year to move to 2-1. He struck out seven as reliever Tyler Dunnington pitched an inning and struck out two.
