Gems Break Three Game Skid, Win in 10th Inning, 6-5 over Cowlitz

Klamath Falls, OR: June 25, 2013 An RBI single by Ryan Clark (University of California Santa Barbara) brought in Austen Brand (Seattle University) from second base with the winning run in the bottom of the 10th inning, breaking a three game losing streak and giving the Gems a 6-5 win over the Cowlitz Black Bears on Tuesday night at Kiger Stadium.

Gems lead 5-3 in the sixth before two runs by Cowlitz in the 7th inning tied the game. Ian Buckles (George Fox University) came on in the 8th inning to shut down Cowlitz and earn his first victory of the season. Henry Omana (Cal State Fullerton) took the loss in relief for Cowlitz, falling to 0-1 on the year. Gems improve to 10-7 on the year with the win, and remain in second place in the South Division of the West Coast League.

The next Gems game will be Wednesday, June 26th as the Gems host the Cowlitz Black Bears; with the first pitch at 6:35 pm. Wednesday's promotion is Social Media Wednesdays!
