
Walkoff RBI by De La Garza in the 12th gives Dillas 9-8 win over Colts

AMARILLO, TX - The Amarillo Dillas and San Angelo Colts were in a 2-1 game until the seventh inning when the Colts scored six and the Dillas scored seven for an 8-8 tie game. The only other run was scored in the 12th by an Adam De La Garza walkoff RBI single for a 9-8 Dillas win in front of 1,830 fans at the Amarillo National Bank Dilla Villa.
Dillas reliever J.R. Boling (1-0) got the win, getting through the 12th inning without runs scoring. Colts reliever Bryan Heaston (2-4) got the loss, despite allowing just one run in three-and-a-third innings of work.
The Dillas struck first in the second inning as Rob Recuenco hit a two-out triple and scored on a Kevin Butler RBI single for a 1-0 Amarillo lead.
The Colts took their first lead in the fifth as Landon Camp led off with a hit-by-pitch and a Trey Carter walk. Isaac Garcia hit a sacrifice bunt to move the runners over, while Ronnie Gaines tripled to score Camp and Carter for a 2-1 San Angelo advantage.
San Angelo broke away in the seventh inning. Gaines walked, Mark Ramos singled and Josh Collazo walked to load the bases. Jason Landreth doubled to score Gaines and Ramos, while Alex Fernandez doubled to score Collazo and Landreth. Jason Crosland followed with a two-run homerun for a six-run inning and an 8-1 Colts lead.
Amarillo responded in kind in the seventh as Recuenco led off with a walk, went to second on a pass ball and scored on an RBI by Butler. Jermel Lomack singled to move Butler to second, while De La Garza walked to load the bases. Joaquin Rodriguez grounded out to score Butler, while Carlos Figueroa singled to score Lomack and De La Garza. Julio Martinez reached on an error to put runners on first and third, while Stephen Douglas singled to score Figueroa. Martinez scored on a wild pitch and Recuenco singled to score Douglas for an 8-8 tie game.
Neither team could score through nine innings, so extra innings were required. The Dillas and Colts had their opportunities, but neither could score until the 12th.
In the 12th, Jermel Lomack hit a one-out triple and scored on an De La Garza RBI walkoff single to give the Dillas a series win and a 9-8 victory.
With the win, the Dillas improve to 44-32 while the Colts fall to 37-39. Sunday, Amarillo will take on the Coastal Bend Thunder for the opening game two games of a four-game set with a doubleheader at 6:05pm with the Aqua One Pre-Game Show set to begin at 5:50pm on AudioSportsOnline via www.myamarillodillas.com. Game time is tentative and is subject to blackout.
