Tucson Toros News Release
Victoria, CAN - Cody Walden pitched 8 innings for the Toros Friday night in Victoria, guiding the team to an 8-3 win over the Seals. Tucson is now just 3 games behind the Orange County Flyers in the GBL Southern Division.
Walden surpassed his previous season high of 7 innings, allowing just 3 runs (2 earned) on 5 hits and 3 walks while striking our 2. Walden got the win to improve to 4-1, with his .800 winning percentage now ranking as tops on the Toros' pitching staff.
All nine players in the Toros starting lineup had at least one hit in the contest, including Walden. 2B Jose Valdez had a big game out the 8-spot, scoring a run and driving in 2 with a pair of hits.
Tucson's outfield of Ron Perodin, Francisco Plasencia and Lino Garcia each chipped in 2 hits of their own, with one of Garcia's clearing the fence for his 5th homer of the season.
1B Cristobal Santana singled in the 4th inning to extend his hitting streak to 17 games, just 1 shy of the team record set earlier this year by both Santana and Plasencia.
The Toros will face the Seals in Victory once again on Saturday for game three of the four game series. First pitch is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. Tucson time.
