
Wahoos Host Hall of Famer Derrick Brooks in Pre-Game Ceremony

Pensacola, Fla. - Pro Football Hall of Famer and Florida State great Derrick Brooks, in conjunction with Blue Wahoos owners Quint Studer and two-time Masters Champion Bubba Watson, will be part of an exciting pre-game ceremony at Blue Wahoos Stadium on May 23. The ceremony will take place at 6:00 p.m. on the field prior to the Blue Wahoos game against the Tennessee Smokies.
"This is a unique opportunity for our community to have two of the best ever in their sport speaking together in their hometown," said Studer. "Pensacola is not only fortunate enough to have so many world-class athletes call it home, but to have so many of those athletes show an interest in being involved in community projects is really special."
Fans are encouraged to get to the park early with gates opening at 5:30 p.m. Studer will introduce both Watson and Brooks and all three will address the fans in attendance. Since his retirement, Brooks has become a notable public speaker and respected philanthropist.
A Pensacola native, Brooks is still active in his hometown. For the last three years, Brooks championed a flag football league for area youth which now takes place at Blue Wahoos Stadium. He remains very active in Communities Caring at Christmas donating his time and money to make sure underprivileged kids in the community can still have a fulfilling Christmas.
Brooks is one of two football Hall of Famers from Pensacola, the other is Emmitt Smith. Following the event, he will be available to members of the media. Fans will also have an opportunity for autographs and a meet and greet.
