"The financial resources we provide to these grass-roots agencies for their education initiatives will pay dividends many times over," said Susanne Svizeny, Regional President Wachovia Bank. "The funds will help new organizations get off the ground and assist established ones in enhancing their impact."

Just completing its sixth year with Wachovia Bank the "Educational Winners Circle" awards grants to non-profit agencies in Monmouth and Ocean Counties that provide enhanced educational opportunities for underserved youth. Over the last six years the program has contributed nearly a quarter of a million dollars.

Grant applications were submitted at the beginning of the baseball season and reviewed by Wachovia's charitable contributions department and BlueClaws management. Through the program, Wachovia and the BlueClaws contribute ten cents from every ticket sold from BlueClaws' home games.

The BlueClaws and Trenton Thunder donate five cents from every ticket sold during their respective seasons and Wachovia Bank matches each donation from the two ballparks. The program is entering its' 12th year and has risen over a one-half million dollars for children on the Jersey Shore and in the greater Trenton area.
