Great Falls Voyagers News Release

Great Falls - The Great Falls Voyagers swept the Pioneer League's weekly awards for the week of July 14-20 the league announced Monday, as Zach Fisher and Dane Stone claimed the league's Player of the Week and Pitcher of the Week honors to give Great Falls their second and third weekly honors of 2014.

Catcher Zach Fisher becomes the first Voyager hitter to claim a weekly award in 2014, after putting together a monstrous week at the plate. The Fontana, Calif., native hit .640 (16-25) for the week, with two home runs, 14 RBIs and and seven runs scored. Fisher's torrid week also hiked his season batting average to .376, which puts him third in the Pioneer League. The former 27th round pick's 14 runs batted in this past week more than doubled his season total, and now puts him at 27 for the year, which places him third in the league.

For the second straight week, Voyager right-hander Dane Stone claimed the league's pitcher of the week honors, after leading Great Falls to its third shutout of the season in his lone start of the week on July 16. The righty fired eight shutout innings, allowing just three hits to Ogden while collecting his third win of the season and lowering his Pioneer League-leading ERA to 1.21. The Miami, Fla., native now has four straight quality starts for Great Falls, and has struck out at least six in all four of those outings.

The Voyagers continue their seven-game road trip tonight with Stone on the mound as they battle the Idaho Falls Chukars. Great Falls can clinch the North Division first half title with a win tonight and a Missoula loss to Orem. First pitch is at 7:15 and coverage will begin at 7:00 on 1400 AM KXGF and gfvoyagers.com.
