Great Falls Voyagers News Release
Great Falls, MT - The Voyagers played their shortest game of the season and made it five consecutive wins with a 4-0 series-opening victory over Grand Junction Saturday night at Centene Stadium.
Great Falls (18-11) remains in first place in the Pioneer League North, and now sits three games up on both Helena and Missoula with nine to play in the first half schedule. The Voyagers are a season-high seven games over .500. Great Falls is 14-3 at home, and has a record of 15-5 in its last 20 games. Grand Junction (13-16) lost its third in a row, and the Rockies are 7-9 on the road.
The Voyagers scored the only run they would need in the bottom of the 3rd. A two-out double by Jay Estes into the left field corner set it up. A grounder to short off the bat of Ian Dawkins resulted in a high throw to first and allowed Estes to race home all the way from second on the error.
Great Falls added single runs in back-to-back frames in the 5th and 6th innings. Ramon Beltre led off the 5th with a double off the wall in deep right. Beltre scored on a line drive base hit to left by Jhoandro Alfaro. In the 6th, Lenyn Sosa started the inning with a double pulled on the ground up the left field line. Sosa later scored on a Corey Zangari sacrifice fly to right. The game's final run came on a Sosa one-out home run launched deep to left. It was Sosa's third homer of the season.
The Voyager pitching staff scattered five hits on the night. Michael McCormick picked up the win in relief. McCormick (4-0) worked four innings and gave up two hits with four strikeouts and two walks. Alejandro Mejia took the loss for the Rockies. Mejia (1-3) lasted six and allowed three runs (one earned) on six hits with one strikeout and one walk. Lane Ramsey notched his first professional save as he pitched the final two innings and allowed one hit with one strikeout. Great Falls' starter Jason Bilous went three and gave up two hits with two strikeouts and one walk.

The game lasted just one hour and fifty-seven minutes
