Epic Comeback Lifts Voyagers to Series Sweep

Great Falls, MT - The Voyagers clubbed five home runs and came back from 10 runs down for a dramatic 15-11 victory over Orem Friday night at Centene Stadium.

Great Falls (17-11) remains in first place in the Pioneer League North, and is two games up on Helena after sweeping the four game series against Orem. The Voyagers are a season-best six games over .500. Great Falls improved to 13-3 at home. Orem (8-20) fell to 3-12 on the road. The Owlz have lost seven of their last nine games.

Down 10-0 entering the bottom of the 3rd, the Voyagers started their scoring night with a two-out, solo home run deep to left by Corey Zangari that traveled 434 feet. Great Falls then batted around in the 4th and closed the gap to 10-6 with a five run frame. Romy Gonzalez led off with a double. Amado Nunez singled. A double play ball produced the first run of the inning. Ramon Beltre reached with an infield single. Ian Dawkins coaxed a walk. Lenyn Sosa drove in two with a double. And, Logan Sowers blasted a two-run home run deep to straightaway center field for his fourth of the season. The Sowers homer covered 467 feet.

Leading off the 5th, Romy Gonzalez jacked a solo home run deep to left-center. It was Gonzalez's second of the season. Another two-out home run from Corey Zangari in the 6th sparked a four-run rally that pushed the Voyagers into their first lead of the night. Following the homer by Zangari, Alex Destino singled. Gonzalez walked. Amado Nunez then tied it with a two-run double pulled up the left field line. Gunnar Troutwine gave Great Falls an 11-10 lead with an RBI single punched into right that scored Nunez.

Corey Zangari's final act came in the 7th. Ian Dawkins and Lenyn Sosa each singled to start the inning. With one out, Zangari drove a pitch high and deep to left-center for the first three-homer game of his career. It gave the Voyagers a 14-10 lead. Both teams plated single runs in the 8th for the game's final margin.

Great Falls set new season highs in home runs and runs scored, and tied a season-high in hits with 17. Ian Dawkins collected three hits with two runs scored. Lenyn Sosa posted two hits with two RBIs. Romy Gonzalez had two hits and three runs. Ramon Beltre had two hits and two runs. Corey Zangari finished 3-for-4 with five RBIs. Zangari hit five homers in the four-game series and drove in 11. It was Zangari's second multi-homer game of the series and the fourth of his career.

Wyatt Burns recorded the win in relief for Great Falls. Burns (2-0) worked three-and-two-thirds scoreless innings and gave up just two hits with two strikeouts and no walks. Luis Alvarado took the loss for Orem. Alvarado (0-1) pitched two-thirds in relief and allowed four earned runs on three hits with one walk.
