KEIZER, Ore. - Salem-Keizer hit a season-high five home runs, including a go-ahead inside the park drive by Andrew Cain in the sixth, as the Volcanoes defeated the Boise Hawks, 13-5, before a sellout crowd of 3,490 at Memorial Stadium.
The loss spoiled the debut of Cubs' first-round pick Albert Almora, who hit a long fourth inning home run to left, going 2-for-5 on the night.
Trailing 5-4 in the sixth, Mac Williamson hit his second homer of the night to left to tie the game off of Hunter Ackerman. With two outs and Chuckie Jones at first, Cain hit a drive off the centerfield wall that kicked away from Almora, circling the bases for his third homer of the season.
S-K added four runs in the eighth inning, all with two outs, and Stephen Yarrow clubbing a two-run homer in the ninth to cap the scoring.
The Volcanoes jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the fourth, as Joe Rapp hit an opposite field two-run homer in the first, with Williamson adding a solo shot in the fourth. Boise would rally, as Almora's homer got the Hawks on the board, with Rock Shoulders following with a three-run homer, his eighth of the season, to give Boise a 4-3 lead.
Cain would leg out an infield single to start the fifth, eventually scoring on a wild pitch to tie the score, but Boise regained the lead in the bottom of the frame on a bases loaded infield single by Marco Hernandez.
Steven Okert picked up his first professional win, tossing and inning-plus of scoreless relief, with Mason McVay tossing three shutout frames for his first save. Cain went 4-for-5 and scored three runs in the win, as S-K pounded out 16 hits.
Gioskar Amaya and Almora had the lone multi-hit games for the Hawks, as Ackerman took the loss, allowing six runs in two-plus innings.
Boise hits the road for 11 games starting tomorrow at Tri-City, with Pierce Johnson meeting Roberto Padilla at 8:15 p.m. (MT).
