The Boise Hawks (30-34, 9-17) fell to the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes (32-32, 12-14) by a final score of 9-6 on Tuesday evening. The Volcanoes trailed all the way until the 8th inning before they broke out for four-runs to take a 9-6 advantage.

For the 2nd day in a row, the Hawks got the bats working in the 1st inning. Terrin Vavra led the game off with his 4th home run of the year to give Boise a 1-0 lead. After Willie Abreu singled, the Hawks were able to move him over to 3rd after he stole a base.

Starter for Salem-Keizer Sean Hjelle threw a ball in the dirt and it was blocked by the Catcher Joey Bart, but Bart hesitated before going out to get it, and Abreu bolted for home and got the 2nd run of the game for the Hawks. Boise took a 2-0 lead.

In the bottom of the 2nd inning, Salem-Keizer scored off Boise starter Miguel Ausua. It was an RBI-single for Nico Giarratano to get the Volcanoes on the board making the score just 2-1 Hawks.

Boise scored four in the 4th inning. Aggressive base-running from Daniel Jipping as he wheeled around the bases, after an error from Salem-Keizer, allowed him to score making it 3-1 Hawks. LeeMarcus Boyd had an RBI-single later in the frame to make it 4-1 Boise, and then it was Willie Abreu with an RBI-groundout to make it 5-1 Hawks. The inning was capped off on an RBI infield hit for Luke Morgan to make it 6-1.

The Volcanoes came right back though as Bart ripped a two-RBI single into left field in the home-half of the inning to make it just 6-3 Hawks. In the 6th inning, Wander Franco's two-RBI double made it a one-run lead for the Hawks at 6-5.

Salem-Keizer finally took the lead in the 8th inning. Bart hit a two-RBI double to give the Volcanoes a 7-6 advantage. Bart finishes the night with four-RBI to lead the way. Salem-Keizer scored two more runs in the 8th and they would hang on for a 9-6 victory.

The Hawks will continue their annual 11-game road trip and play against the Volcanoes again tomorrow. First pitch will be at 7:35 p.m. MT on 101.5 KOOL-FM.
