Voice of the Aces Heads to NHL

ANCHORAGE, Alaska -- Jack Michaels, the "Voice of the Aces" for eight seasons, has accepted the radio play-play position with the Edmonton Oilers of the National Hockey League for the 2010-11 campaign.

Terry Parks, Managing Partner of the Aces, said, "We are pleased that the ACES have moved another one of its staff members to the next level. We as an ownership group know that Jack will represent us well. Jack and his family will always be part of the ACES family. We have begun a search for a new "Voice" and will start the interview process this week. We wish Jack and his family our best in there move to Edmonton."

Michaels joined the Aces after an ownership change in the summer of 2002 and called 679 games for the club, including the 2006 Kelly Cup clincher against Gwinnett. He also served in various capacities beyond the broadcast booth, including travel and team services, corporate sales, website management, and media relations. Michaels earned the 2003 WCHL Broadcaster of the Year award, the 2004 ECHL Broadcaster of the Year award, and five trips to the ECHL All-Star Game during his tenure with the Aces. He also claimed four consecutive "Goldie" awards for Best Play-by-play, as selected by the Alaska Broadcasters Association.

2010-11 Alaska Aces season tickets remain on sale at the team headquarters, located at 15th & Gambell, between 9am-5pm.
