
Marty the Marmot to Participate in the Easter

Victoria, BC - The Victoria Salmon Kings, proud affiliate of the Vancouver Canucks and Manitoba Moose, are happy to announce that Marty the Marmot will participating in the Easter Seals Drop Zone on Thursday, September 16.
Marty will become the first Victoria-based sports mascot to rappel down the side of the downtown CIBC building, as he helps fundraise for the Easter Seals; a national charity that is dedicated to serving Canadians with disabilities and their families. Marty has set a goal of raising $2,000 for the Easter Seals, and has already brought in over $800 for the cause!
The Easter Seals Drop Zone is in its sixth year in Canada, and fifth in Victoria. Last year, Victoria raised over $93,000 for the cause. Since the Drop Zone's inception in 2005, over 2,300 people have participated with nearly $4 million raised, while 100% of all donations in British Columbia stay within the province

The Salmon Kings open the 2010-11 season on Friday, October 15th in Idaho with a two-game set versus the defending National Conference champion Steelheads. Victoria returns home to open up their schedule at the Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre with a three-game set versus the Ontario Reign beginning Wednesday, October 27th.
