Springfield Cardinals News Release
Your first place Springfield Cardinals return from their eight-game road trip on Tuesday, April 29th, as they welcome the Northwest Arkansas Naturals and the Arkansas Travelers to town for an eight-game home stand.
The upcoming home stand will kick off with Leukemia / Lymphoma Society Night, as we try to set a World Record! Fans will be given kazoos upon entering Hammons Field and then during the seventh inning stretch, we'll try to break the World Record for most people playing "Take Me Out to the Ballgame" with kazoos. It's all in an effort to help raise awareness and money for the Leukemia / Lymphoma Society. To help LLS, purchase your tickets online at www.springfieldcardinals.com/lls and a portion of your ticket will help LLS raise money. Be sure and use the password LLS. Below are some details about how special this night will be!
On April 08, 2008, Emily & Jeff Patrick celebrated with their 6 year old son, Carson. It was the one year anniversary of Carson kicking cancer's butt. Carson is the Patient Hero for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Team in Training program, the world's largest endurance training program. Because Carson is such an amazing inspiration for those training to ride their bicycles 100 miles, and those training to run or walk a marathon or half marathon, he has been chosen to throw the first pitch at the Springfield Cardinals game on April 29th.
This is the 2nd annual World Record at the Park event to benefit the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (ELLS). Everyone who attends this game will be part of breaking another world record: The most people to play "Take Me Out To the Ball Game" on kazoos! (Springfield still holds the record for the most people wearing Groucho Marx glasses from last year's game) Q'Doba is providing a kazoo to everyone as they come in the gate that evening. They will also provide certificates, that when redeemed at any local Q'Doba will be worth a $1 donation to LLS. Come support Carson and help others by buying your ticket through The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society link www.springfieldcardinals.com/lls . The password is lls to purchase these very special tickets. A portion of every ticket sold on the website will benefit The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society Mission: Cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease and myeloma, and improve the quality of life of patients and their families.
The next home stand will also feature Friday Night Fireworks thanks to AM Pyrotechnics, Great Southern Kids' Cardinals T-Shirts (Saturday, May 3rd) and BCFO "Pink In the Park" & Almost Mother's Day Pink Carnation Giveaway to 2,000 Moms thanks to Linda's Flowers, as we help raise awareness for Breast Cancer.
Individual tickets can be purchased by calling 417-863-2143 or online at www.springfieldcardinals.com, or to speak to a Cardinals' Account Executive, please call 417-863-0395.
We hope to see you at Hammons Field for the upcoming home stand. Go Cards and Get Your RED On!
