EDINBURG, TEXAS - The NBA Development League Champion Rio Grande Valley Vipers announced today they will play a pre-season game against the reigning champions of Liga Nacional de Baloncesto Profesional in Mexico, Halcones Universidad Veracruzana en Xalapa, on Tuesday, November 9 at 7:00 p.m. at the UTPA Fieldhouse.

General admission tickets cost $5 and reserved seats cost $10 each. Doors open at 6:00 p.m.

Tickets go on sale Friday at 10:00 a.m. and can be purchased by calling the Vipers at 972-1144 or by stopping by the Vipers Pro-Shop at 4500 N. 10th St. in McAllen.

It is the first time an NBA Development League team has hosted a team from Mexico.

"It's always exciting to be a part of history. How often do you see defending champions from two different leagues face each other? This should be a good test for the team and a lot of fun for the fans," Vipers President Bert Garcia said.

This game is one of two pre-season games that the Vipers will participate in. The Vipers will play the Iowa Energy in Frisco, Texas, on Saturday, November 13 at 3:00 p.m. This is the first time the Vipers are playing two pre-season games. The Vipers played the Austin Toros once during each of the last two pre-seasons and the Bakersfield Jam the year before that.
