Vipers To Have Three Nationally Televised Home Games On Versus
January 4, 2010 - NBA G League (G League)
Rio Grande Valley Vipers News Release
MCALLEN, TEXAS - The NBA Development League Rio Grande Valley Vipers announced today that their home games on February 6, March 13 and March 27 will be broadcast on VERSUS in high definition.
Locally, VERSUS can be found on Channel 314 in standard definition and channel 1314 in high definition on Time Warner Cable. It can also be found on channel 151 on Dish Network.
Each game starts at 7:30 p.m. and will air beginning at 10:00 p.m.
VERSUS will air 16 NBA Development League games on Saturday nights - ten in the regular season and six during the post-season. The Vipers, who are first in the Western Conference with a 10-4 record, and who also lead the NBA Development League in average attendance, are the only team hosting three televised home games and one of only two teams hosting multiple games. In total, 13 of the 16 teams in the NBA Development League will be featured in at least one game, with the Vipers the only team featured in three.
"The decision by the league and VERSUS to showcase the Vipers three times on national TV signifies a major moment in our franchise's history. Our fans' dedication and the team's great play are being rewarded with multiple chances to play on the national stage. These games also will allow us to highlight the wonderful communities of the Rio Grande Valley to the entire country," Vipers President Brian Michael Cooper said.
VERSUS' NBA Development League coverage will provide fans with even more access to the game and the players, including micing players and coaches during the games, in-game interviews, airing locker room pre-game, halftime and post-game speeches and increased camera angles.
The Vipers were on live national TV for the first time during today's 101-84 loss to the Albuquerque Thunderbirds on NBA TV. The Vipers will face the Bakersfield Jam on Wednesday at 2:45 p.m. on NBA TV as well.
