Vipers Sweep Series over Stockton

EDINBURG, Texas. - A solid defense from the Rio Grande Valley Vipers (23-8), allowed the team to walk away with a 114-99 win over the Stockton Kings (15-15) on Saturday night at the Bert Ogden Arena.

Both teams got off to a slow start making it difficult for either team to pull away. At the end of the first the Vipers were up by just two points with a score of 19-17. The tight race for the lead continued into the second quarter with several lead changes. Going into the half the Vipers had a one-point advantage over the Kings sending the game into halftime 47-46.

RGV pulled away with a seven-point lead at the end of the third with a score of 77-69. The Vipers stretched its lead in the fourth quarter which allowed the team to obtain a 114-99 victory.

Mfiondu Kabengele paved the way for the Vipers with 22 points and seven rebounds. Marcus Foster finished the night with 19 points, five rebounds and five assists. Trhae Mitchell fell short of a double-double with 18 points and nine rebounds. Gerald Green totaled 14 points and eight rebounds. Houston Rockets Two-Way player Anthony Lamb grabbed a double-double with 13 points, 13 rebounds and seven assists. Tyler Bey came off the bench and also posted a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds.

DJ Steward totaled 23 points. Matt Coleman III was one assist away from a double-double with 20 points and nine assists. Christian Terrell (15) and Sheldon Mac (14) obtained a combined 29 points.
